The Department of Education (DepEd) has warned private schools against increasing tuition for the coming school year. According to Education Secretary Jesli Lapus they will not hesitate to use their regulatory powers to protect the interests of students should certain schools show a lack of sensitivity to current economic conditions. Lapus urged private schools to exercise self-restraint amid the current economic crisis, which has been affecting educational institutions as well. Lapus said private schools must file applications for proposals to increase tuition. The deadline for application has been set to March 30.

The Internet is also a catalyst for change. U.S. enrollment in online virtual classes reached the 1 million mark last year, 22 times the level seen in 2000, according to the North American Council for Online Learning, an industry body.

That’s only the beginning, said Michael Horn, co-author of “Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns”.

“Our projections show that 50 percent of high school courses will be taught online by 2019. It’s about one percent right now,” said Horn, executive director of education at Innosight Institute, a nonprofit think tank in Massachusetts.

K12 Inc, which provides online curriculum and educational services in 17 U.S. states, has seen student enrollment rise 57 percent from last year to 41,000 full-time students, said its chief executive, Ron Packard.

Is there any secret to success? Is there any single formula that can help you reach the high plane of your existence as to be looked upon by others as an epitome worth emulating? Can a wretched poor fellow surpass the circumstances imposed upon by life?

Many have already pondered on these questions but the answers seem to be elusive. The more I think of it, the more intense is my desire to discover a short cut to success. But I found to my shame that this easy-get-rich thinking of mine is purely a fallacy and no one if ever maintains such financial status in a longer period of time. Success as they say is worked upon by patient and determined individual for a longer period of time. It entails hard work, labor, ability, perseverance and faith to the Divine Being and to your cause. When I have read the story of Jim Piccolo, I begun to realize what success really means. Jim Piccolo’s success story is one of my favorite success stories. His struggles and triumphs give me the impetus to continue dreaming and work on my dream. His life reflects what we call a story not made by circumstances but by a conscious individual effort to transcend his present level of existence. He did not allow his circumstances or the external events to possibly hinder him to reach what he has long fought and worked for.

Jim Piccolo, the Chairman of the Nouveau Riche University and the owner of the same university, spreads the good news by sharing his secrets to success, guiding beginners like me to continue on one’s quest for fate. His pioneering accomplishments in the field of business and academe sing like music to the ears; they serve as inspiration to millions out there who wants to improve their lot in life. Jim Piccolo is, indeed, a sui generis—one of a kind.

A good education is an excellent investment. It has been said that a good education could be the gateway leading to a lucrative profession and to a fruitful career. So, if you are looking for a good education, set your eyes on the institution which can provide the program of study that appeals to your interest and inclination.

Higher institutions of learning abound in the country today. But not all of them can provide the right education that you need and the diploma that you would like to obtain. Strictly speaking, only a few can provide a good curricular offering, affordable tuition fees and flexible time schedule. Among these very few universities is Ashworth University. In the scale of 1 to 10, I can fairly say that Ashworth University is at the scale of 10 when it comes to curricular relevance, tuition fee rate affordability, programs acceptability and time flexibility. Through the years, Ashworth University has transformed itself into a world leader in providing university education to students. Its curricular offerings are one of the most diverse in the country. On top of this, these curricular studies currently offered in Ashworth are among those which are in demand in the labor market today. Formerly known as PCDI, Ashworth College provides a flexible program of instructions for those who wish to obtain an associate, bachelor or even a high school diploma.

Have a plan to invest on your education? Be secured in your investment, invest now at Ashworth University.

Note-taking is a skill that can help you do well on all your schoolwork - everything from taking tests to researching a paper. But unfortunately, most schools don’t have classes that teach you how to take notes. So here are some tips.

Write down key facts. If you have a teacher who writes notes on the board, that’s a bonus: You can copy them down. If not, write down the most important points from class. Does your history teacher mention the date of a key Civil War battle? Does your English teacher give examples of Shakespeare’s use of dramatic irony? Does your math teacher go over a particular formula? Write it down!

It can take some experimenting to figure out what information really is helpful, so keep trying and don’t give up. Different teachers do things differently. For example, some teachers may mention lots of dates and facts in class but only write the key ones on the board. Other teachers may not write anything down, but they may repeat a certain date or piece of information. That’s a clue that it’s probably important. After a while, you’ll get to know a teacher’s style.

Don’t overdo it. Don’t go crazy taking notes, though: You’ll be frantic if you try to write down every word that’s said in class. And if you focus too much on getting your notes right, you might miss important points. Some people actually learn better by listening, writing down a few key points, and then going over the material after class when they have more time.

Here are six steps to smarter studying:

  1. Pay attention in class.
  2. Take good notes.
  3. Plan ahead for tests and projects.
  4. Break it down. (If you have a bunch of stuff to learn, break it into smaller chunks.)
  5. Ask for help if you get stuck.
  6. Get a good night’s sleep!

1. Pay Attention: Good Studying Starts in Class

Here’s a riddle for you: Did you know that before you even begin studying, you’ve already started? Huh? Here’s what we mean. When you pay attention in class and take good notes, you are starting the process of learning and studying.

Do you have trouble paying attention in class? Are you sitting next to a loud person? Is it hard to see the board? Make sure you’re sitting in a good seat that lets you pay attention. Tell your teacher or parents about any problems that are preventing you from paying attention and taking good notes.
